BS8300 How the changes in legislation affects you!
A little History: In 2004 the legislation regarding BS8300 and specifically how it relates to Fire doors was revised these changes in brief meant that The opening force for Accessible routes and Fire Doors was reduced by approx 50% to 20N force, this in effect meant that it was not possible to provide mechanical door closing devises that met this opening force and at the same time meet the requirements of CE marking and BS EN 1154.
The governing body has now revised this legilation and the amendments to BS8300 in relation to Doc'M' now states that a maximum opening force of 30N at 0 deg closed or 22.5N when measured at 30 & 60 degrees. This means that with some attention to detail in the quality of the Ironmongery supplied we can satisfy the requirements with a mechanical door closing devise. This closer however must be greater than 65% Efficient, the closers used by Price & Oliver Ltd are from quality British and European manufacturers that are able to meet these high demands.
A number of important factors affecting doors, ie Door, the Frame, Fire & Smoke Seals and specifically the hinges to BS EN 1935 all have a dramatic affect on the operation of a door and it's ability to meet the demands required.
